Matt. 6:20 He told us exactly how to do it in Luke 12:33, "Sell that ye have, and give alms, provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not,...". If at least half of the Christians of the world will obey this commandment and help the poor, no one in the world will go hungry. Yet about a third of the people of the world go hungry everyday. Recent UN report said that 57 million children of India are malnourished and a million of them die of hunger every year. NDTV of India reported that 60 million kids go hungry everyday in India. Another 43 million are malnourished in African countries. Most of these children can be saved with just $20 a month.
One purpose of God giving you wealth is that you help the poor and get your own treasures in heaven. Why Jesus gave this command to lay for yourself treasures in heaven? He gave this command becuase He cares about you and He cares about the poor. Jesus also said, "..ye have the poor always with you;" Matt. 26:11. God's purpose is that you help the poor and get for yourself some eternal riches. Will you consider the poor and people like me who help their cause, as your friends who offer you the opportunity to make riches forever? Please use us and get your own eternal riches. What if I don't go to heaven? If you are not going to heaven, you will not have any treasures there. But if you give to the poor, though you may go to hell, your sufferings will be much less than others. Why not get heaven now? The Lord Jesus Christ came and died a cruel death on the cross to save you from your sins and give you eternal heaven. Lord Jesus did not come to give a religion for people, He really came to do the work for man's salvation. He did it and His last words from the cross were, "It is finished". No one else has done that as no one could have done it. He finished the work that he came to do which was to suffer the death for every human. The work he finished must come in you now, if you do not want to go to hell. It can come into you only through faith. That is why the scripture says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." You must believe with a faith that comes from God Himself through hearing or understanding of God's word. Rom. 10:17. When you will exercise this faith which comes from God, you will know for sure that you already have heaven in you. If you do not have such calm assurance and peace in your soul, please believe now and confess Christ as your Lord in the following words: "Lord Jesus, I thank you for doing the work for my salvation through your death and resurrection. I believe in you with all my heart and make you my Lord and Saviour from now. Please forgive all my sins, remove my hell and give me your heaven. Thank you Jesus for forgiving all my sins and making me your child. I want to live a new life for you from now. Please help me. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen."
